Dynamite Brothers, aka Stud Brown (1974) — The poster completely sidesteps the Asian chop-socky angle in that this film is a blaxploitaion/kung-fu mashup pairing Timothy Brown and Alan Tang as Defiant Ones-style interracial action buddies. Hi-yah, brother!

This photo was taken at Watts Towers, one of the America’s most beautiful combinations of ingenuity and imagination. I’ve been there three times and will likely go again. Any curious person in the Los Angeles area should check it out. If you do the tour, you get the overall context of the neighborhood, including the history of the riots.

Watts, Los Angeles, 3/15/1966. The caption reads “officer threatens suspect with shotgun,” but I don’t think that’s correct. I don’t think the shotgun is pointed at the suspect’s chin as it may appear. UCLA, Special Collections, Young Research Library.
